A site that takes you on trails across the region, linking Yorkshire food,
landscape and great locations. The trails guide visitors through picturesque
villages, along dramatic coastlines, over Moors and into Dales.
The trails aren't prescriptive but have suggestions of where to stop for coffee
and cake or a Michelin starred meal. On the way you can stock up at farms,
artisan cheese shops, delicatessens, quality butchers etc.
To follow a complete trail could take a full day (or more if you make
several meals of it)! Whatever stops you choose, you can be confident you
will be sampling the very best of Gourmet Yorkshire.
Accompanying the trails, the 'themes' are in-depth articles that will fill
you in on the colourful history and detail of Yorkshire's unique
and excellent produce.
This map is shown on each page and the recommended trails are highlighted in different colours.
As you click on an area (or hotspot), the bottom half of the screen will give you several gourmet recommendations.
There is a printable version of each trail available.
If you decide not to return to York, or would like to look for alternatives to suggested venues, click on any of the ‘Find’ buttons, at the top of the screen. This site is not ‘all-inclusive’ and there are other ‘gourmet’ establishments that are not mentioned. Have a great time and a fantastic gourmet experience in and around Yorkshire.
Transport: Though the trails are primarily for car drivers, there are frequent rail services available from York. A useful public transport site can be found on www.yorkshiretravel.net or Tel: 0870 608 2 608.
